This one hits hard. As a musician who is on a musical journey, discovering bands is a constant and evolving feat. I’m fortunate to say that I ‘discovered’ this fantastic Swedish Death Metal band Soilwork a couple of years back and I Was blown away by the musicianship and talent of the band. Granted, I didn’t really ‘discover’ them rather than ‘get round to listening to them. Unfortunately, according to the band’s Instagram post, it would appear that their guitarist David Andersson has passed away.

Heartfelt Message from the band

It pains me to read that David struggled with addiction and suffered from the anguish of mental illness. near the end. As somebody who has struggled with addiction and mental illness, this really strikes a nerve. I can only say my condolences to David’s friends and family. I hope that in the future more can be done to help people in this position.

If you struggle with Addiction and Mental Illness, what could you do?

I will post some links to follow if you or anybody else is affected by the issues highlighted in this article and you live in the UK.

https://www.talktofrank.com/ – If you’re with someone who needs medical help, call an ambulance and tell the crew everything you know about the drugs taken, it could save their life. If you have any drugs left, hand them over to the crew as it may help. In most circumstances they won’t tell the police.

Final Thoughts

It is all too common nowadays to find young, middle-aged and old men struggling with their inner demons, whether that’s addictions via alcohol, drugs (prescription or otherwise) and suffering from the negative stigma surrounding mental health. If you know somebody who is struggling, send them a message to let them know you are in their thoughts and perhaps share the links above. You could save a life.
