Ronnie Spector, Ronettes Singer and Ultimate Girl-Group Icon, Dead at 78

Singer and former Ronettes singer Ronnie Spector has passed away.

Although the singer was most well known for her lineup in the girl group the Ronettes, Ronnie Spector also had to overcome domestic abuse. In her 1990 biography, Be My Baby, Ronnie Spector said that after their marriage, Phil subjected her to years of psychological suffering and destroyed her career by prohibiting her from performing. [20] To keep her from leaving, she claims he encircled their home with barbed wire and guard dogs and confiscated her shoes.
